The Mobridge Teeners could not get anything going as they lost two straight games at the Region 3A 15-16 Teener Tournament in Groton. Mobridge lost 15-0 to Big Stone City-Ortonville on Thursday and 17-4 to Sisseton on Friday.
The Big Stone City-Ortonville game was never a contest after BSC-O scored 11 runs in the first inning. By adding one run in the second and three in the third, BSC-O won the game after three innings by the 15-run mercy rule.
Three different players had three hits, scored two runs and drove home two more for BSC-O. Pitcher Drew Sitter mowed down nine straight Mobridge hitters for the win.
Sam Weleba suffered the loss for Mobridge.
Sisseton scored early and late to win a 17-4 game and knock the Teeners out of the tournament on Friday.
Sisseton scored five runs in the first and two more in the second. They led 7-0 when Mobridge tightened the gap with a four-run rally in the fourth inning, but Sisseton responded with a 10-run outpouring in the bottom of the frame.
Tyler Mayer, Weleba, David Evans and Tanner Jerome all crossed home plate in the Mobridge rally. Weleba laced a single during the scoring run.
Evans took the loss for Mobridge.
Tristan Thompson pitched Sisseton to the win. Mathew Nieland led Sisseton with three hits. Bubba Bertsch drilled a double and scored three runs
