There was plenty of action packed into a less than five-minute special meeting Friday, Feb. 9, as Marion Schlomer, of Mobridge was elected to fill the vacant seat on the commission.
In a three to two vote, with Walworth County Auditor Becky Krein voting to avoid another tie (as per South Dakota law), Schlomer will now take the seat vacated by Commissioner Melissa Miller.
After the vote was counted, commission chair Scott Schilling asked if there were any comments on the election.

He went on to tell the commission he had planned to withdraw his name from consideration.
“I like Marion and I am glad he got it. It keeps me out of the things you guys have started, created here,” he said. “This is bullsh**.
Commission chair Scott Schilling said he agreed before the meeting was adjourned.
Schlomer will be sworn in at the next meeting.
