Co-ed coach pitch for ages 6 through 8 is on Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 5:30 p.m. on the north field. This age group will have practice time on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon.
T-ball and coach pitch will run through the month of June. Ages for the groups are as of Jan. 1.
Rec sports (tennis, kickball, whiffle ball, etc.) will be Mondays through Thursdays with grades K-2 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and grades 3-5 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Grades used for rec sports are the grades the students were in during the 2019-20 school year.
Rec sports runs through the end of July.
It is mandatory that children are signed up for T-ball, coach pitch and rec sports before they start play next week. They will be assigned to a group for the length of the program.
Visit the website mobridgeyouth.org and sign up. Everyone will be contacted about the times for their children’s games once everyone is registered.
With the COVID-19 pandemic still gripping the nation, MYO has come up with a set of guidelines for the 2020 sports sessions.
• All players, coaches and umpires are encouraged to observe physical distancing guidelines while at the ball parks and complexes.
• Group size for practices and activities will be limited to 10 or less if possible. T-ball, coach pitch and rec sports will be very structured and organized to minimize contact among the participants.
• Parents and spectators are encouraged to view the game from the outfield area past first and third base and away from the dugouts. Family members with health conditions or whose age places them in the higher risk category are encouraged to watch from their vehicle and are encouraged to park closer to the infield. Only immediate families and households will be allowed to be seated together. Non-family household members are encouraged to remain six feet apart from other spectators.
• Team dugouts will be extended from the dugout to the backstop and include a minimum distance of six feet from the fence back. Teams and individuals are encouraged to practice proper physical distancing with no more than three to five individuals in the actual dugout at any given time.
• Hand and equipment sanitizing will be available and encouraged to take place when individuals come into contact with bases and metal items, not limited to the benches and fences.
• It is suggested players, spectators, umpires and coaches wear approved face masks or face bandanas if in close contact for more than 10 minutes and in accordance with community standards.
• Each team/group will have its own baseballs or softballs to use during the season. Balls should remain in original packaging until introduced into the game. Umpires will not be required to carry game balls. Umpires are recommended to wear gloves or use sanitized wipes/towels to handle balls.
• Players/participants are strongly encouraged to have their own batting helmets. MYO can place an order for families if needed to purchase helmets at a discounted price. If found to be necessary to share youth catcher’s equipment or helmets, it must be sanitized with spray or wiped down before each use.
• All players and coaches should refrain from sharing other equipment including bats as much as possible, along with batting and fielder’s gloves and protective wear such as fielder’s masks, etc. Players are encouraged to wear batting gloves as much as possible, especially while on offense. Any bats that need to be shared will be wiped down between uses.
• Teams will no longer shake hands at the end of the game. Instead use other gestures such as tipping caps, waves or friendly gestures of celebration during the contest.
• Teams will be required to clean their dugout areas upon arrival and departure.
• Follow safe distancing guidelines at the concessions and restrooms. Fans and family members are encouraged to bring and use their own sanitizers and disinfectants.
• Players/participants must bring their own water to drink during and after games and practice as no drinking fountains will be turned on.
