With all seven precincts counted, Walworth County voters have chosen the Romney/Ryan ticket over Obama/Biden by a wide margin  with 1,731 votes for the Republican presidential ticket to 671for the Democrats.

South Dakota Representative Kristi Noem has a very comfortable lead over challenger Democrat Matt Varelik, 1,177 votes to 496.

In the race for state’s attorney with all precincts reporting, challenger Jamie Hare has defeated incumbent Christopher Jansen with 1,292 votes to Jansen’s 1,103.

Walworth County residents defeated South Dakota Constitutional Amendments M (issues related to corporations and legislative flexibility by 1,638 no votes to 551 yes votes.

Amendment N (would repeal legislative reimbursements restrictions) with 1,497 no votes to 777 yes votes.

On Amendment O (change in the manner in which the cement plant trust fund is distributed) there were 1,145 yes votes and 1,082 no votes.

Initiated Measure 15 (sales tax increase for education and Medicaid) Walworth County voters defeated the measure soundly with 829 yes votes to 1,532 no votes.

Initiated Measure 16 (merit pay for top teachers,  extra pay for math and science teachers) voters cast 574 votes in favor of the measure and 1,785 against.

Referred Law 14, (establishing a Large Project Fund) was also defeated with 846 yes votes to 1,400 no votes.
