Pearman takes third, Bearsheart fourth at Big Dakota


Kamron Pearman pinned Logan Peterson of Miller/Highmore-Harrold on his way to third-place at the Big Dakota Conference Tournament in Fort Pierre.

Kamron Pearman and Jesse Bearsheart earned medals at the Big Dakota Conference Tournament in Fort Pierre on Saturday.
Pearman took third place at 145 pounds where his only loss was to Class A’s No. 1-ranked Gabe Skustad of Chamberlain. Pearman pinned Joey Bass of Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes at 1:58 in the first round. After falling 14-4 to Skustad, Pearman pinned Logan Peterson of Miller/Highmore-Harrold at 2:05. In the match for third place, Pearman drew Bass again and pinned him again, this time at 2:59.
Bearsheart took fourth place at 182. In the first round, Bearsheart was pinned by Hunter Stambach of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree, ranked eighth in Class A. He bounced back with a pin over Wyatt Powers of Chamberlain but was pinned by Richard Long of Harding County in the third-place match.
Three wrestlers earned one win on the day.
Mark Sandquist earned a win at 106, pinned Talon Ping of Miller/Highmore-Harrold, but lost matches to Nicholas Schlachter of Potter County and Johnny Lenz of Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes.
Remmington Ford picked up a win at 138. He sandwiched a 10-4 win over Colton Brady of Stanley County between losses to Thomas Powell of Chamberlain, ranked seventh in Class A, and Josh VanHeuvelen of Sunshine Bible Academy.
Cole Wellner earned a 19-3 tech fall over Stetson Shelbourn of Winner Area at 195. His losses were to Lane Krueger of Groton Area and Class A’s fourth-ranked Noah Hutmacher of Chamberlain.
Aiden Schoenhard opened 285 with a 1-0 win over Adrian Knutson of Groton Area before falling to Jackson Soulek of Chamberlain, and eighth-ranked Kameron Styles of Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes.
Wyatt Wientjes and Xandrea Bearsheart suffered 0-2 days.
Wientjes lost to two ranked wrestlers. His losses were to seventh-ranked Lucas Lenz of Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes and ninth-ranked Christian Ehresmann of Groton Area.
Bearsheart was pinned twice by Kiana Major of Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes.

Region 4B
The Tigers get two weeks of practice before making runs for state at the Region 4B Wrestling Tournament in Fort Pierre on Saturday, Feb. 20.
At the region tournament the Tigers will compete against host Stanley County, Bennett County, Custer, Faith, Harding County, Hill City, Hot Springs, Lead-Deadwood, Lemmon/McIntosh, Lyman, Newell, Philip Area, and St. Thomas More.
