Pickup misses turn, four people injured

By Katie Zerr –

Four people were injured Thursday, July 4, when the driver of a pickup missed a turn on Revheim Road and landed in a cornfield east of the intersection with Lake Front Drive.

At 3:13 a.m., a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Timothy Hathaway, 21, of Mobridge was eastbound on Lake Front Drive traveling at 45-50 mph, according to Walworth County First Deputy Josh Bohl. There were three passengers in the pickup-Toni Duchenueax, 22, and Kyra Hammer, 19, both of Mobridge, and Sawyer Sandquist, 21, of Trail City.

According to Bohl, Hathaway said he missed the turn and the pickup hit an embankment and ended up 60 yards into the cornfield at the end of the intersection with Revheim Road.

Three people were transported by ambulance to Mobridge Regional Hospital and one was later transferred by ambulance to a Bismarck medical facility with a deep laceration to her leg.

Bohl said speed and alcohol were factors in the accident, which is still under investigation.

Hathaway was charged with DUI and other charges may be filed when the investigation is complete.

Three passengers in the pickup were wearing seatbelts with the exception of the individual who received the most severe injuries and was transported to Bismarck.

No further information about the condition of the injured is available at this time. Officers from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, the Mobridge Police Department and the Corson County Sheriff’s office assisted at the scene.
