Post 4 drops opener

After getting off to a good start, things went awry for Mobridge as American Legion Post 4 dropped a 16-1 game to Warner/Ipswich/Northville last Tuesday at Legion Memorial Field.
“It was our first game,” said coach Jordan Bachmeier. “It all comes down to that.”
After starting pitcher Noah Bauer shut the visitors down in the first inning, Michael Davis led off for Mobridge with a single, stole second, advanced to third and then stole home to give Mobridge a 1-0 lead.
That lead would be short-lived.
W-I-N erupted for four runs (two earned) in the second inning and never looked back. Bauer left the game trailing 6-1 after five innings. He had nine strike outs on the night.
The Mobridge relief corps got taken advantage of late as W-I-N scored five runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth to put the game away.
Despite not getting hits at the right time, Mobridge did have men on base all night. Noah Fried led the offense with a double and a single. Davis added a pair of walks. Nathan Bauer, Jason Gerry, Dylan Cerney and Tom Zott all added singles.
“We left a lot of guys on base,” said Bachmeier.
Post 4 hosts Ft. Pierre tomorrow (Thursday) with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.
