Regan Stoick places fifth in poetry contest

Submitted Story

Mobridge-Pollock fourth-grader Regan Stoick, daughter of Josh and Heather Stoick of Mobridge, took fifth place in POET Biorefining’s annual POET Tree contest as part of the “South Dakota Road Trip” curriculum. Students who took part in the South Dakota Road Trip submitted nature-themed poems in recognition of Arbor Day and National Poetry month, which is April. Regan’s entry earned her a $25 VISA gift card. She and the other four place winners will have their entries published in the July issue of Vital magazine.
Here’s Regan’s poem:
Recycling
Recycling is great! Recycling is grand!
If you need some help, I’ll lend you a hand.
If you have plastic, aluminum, or cardboard, don’t throw it away.
I’ll come take it someday and you will say, “Recycling is great,
Recycling is grand, thank you ma’am for lending me your hand!”
