Ruby Jo Feiock was born Nov. 12, 1952, in Dickinson, N.D. She was the daughter of Reuben and Francis (Leidholt) Feiock. Shortly after her first birthday, Ruby moved with her family to Mobridge, where she grew up on a family farm. She graduated from Mobridge High School in 1971.
On May 29, 1971, she was united in marriage to Staff Sergeant Robert Helmberger in Mobridge. Following their marriage the couple resided in Minot, N.D., at the Minot Air Force Base. In 1976 they moved to Belle Fourche where they raised their daughter, Terri and son, James.
Ruby worked part-time at Clark’s Printing in Spearfish. Later she started with friendly home parties and used that income to start her gift shop at Mason’s Fifth Avenue in Belle Fourche. She retired in 2009 due to her health challenges.
Ruby enjoyed bowling, coaching girls’ softball, boating, watching demolition derbies, and watching her husband Bob play pool. She was very active in the community, volunteering her time and energy decorating trees and wreaths for the Festival of Trees Auction, and helping kids at the after school church programs. Her passion was spending time with her grandchildren, whether it be on the beaches of Florida or at an all-day soccer, volleyball, or basketball tournament. Ruby loved her family very much and she will be greatly missed.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Robert of Belle Fourche; daughter, Terri Jo (Dustin) Helmberger-Moross of Belle Fourche; son, James (Jennifer) of Palm Bay, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Jordan, Alyx, Afton, Chance, Jayce, Calynn, Ray, Jasmyn, Jessica, and Robert; brother, Dean (Patti) Feiock of Mobridge; and sisters, Wanda Martin of Sioux Falls, and Karen (Roger) Jeffers of Sioux Falls. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Barb (Gary) Kopacek of Minneapolis Minn., Donna Fossen of Belle Fourche and Nancy Hanson of Summerset; brother-in-law, Steve Kasparek of St. Louis, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
