Someday, when it’s time, Breezy will learn to cook

By Travis Svihovec

Breezy (Breanne) Kuehl can cook. It’s just that she, well, for whatever reason, doesn’t.
“I’ll cook when my mom’s not there,” Breezy, 20, said. “Easy stuff. Pizza, alfredo. No fancy-dancey.”
Breezy is quite content to let her mom, Lynn, and dad, Llew, handle the cooking duties. Both are quite capable cooks but the urge to learn those skills just isn’t high on Breezy’s list.
“I just never took the chance,” she said. “I will someday.”
Breezy is a 2012 graduate of Mobridge-Pollock High School. She attended college for one semester at Black Hills State University in Spearfish and then transferred to Bismarck State College. She took a job at the Mobridge Tribune in January.
“I’m a customer service rep, quick print, and manage some paperwork,” she said.
Breezy spends much of her free time with her nephews. Kadin, 3, and Korbin, 15 months, are the sons of her brother Brett and his wife Lori.
“We go for walks, go to the park, watch movies,” she said. “Kadin likes to go fishing and bowhunting, and I take them to football, volleyball and basketball games.”
Korbin is a little young yet, but Kadin will pitch in when Breezy decides to give a recipe a try in the kitchen.
“He likes to help. He stirs things and pours it in,” she said. “And eats it all.”
So it’s really not fair to say Breezy doesn’t cook at all. She successfully completed a cooking class in high school and, when pressed, admitted she could make a few things.
“Brownies, cookies, Rice Krispies bars,” she said.
When it’s time, Breezy will learn more from her parents. Llew likes to grill such things as pork loins and steaks. Lynn puts together lasagna and other dishes.
“She’s really good,” Breezy said.
That lasagna ranks high among Breezy’s favorites. She also likes potatoes: baked, smashed, or cut up, wrapped in foil, a little butter, and cooked on the grill.
When not with her nephews and other family members, Breezy enjoys hanging with her friends, taking in movies and going on walks.
