Timber Lake headed back to B’s

Timber Lake is headed back to state after defeating Wolsey-Wessington 61-48 in the Boys Class B SoDak 16 in Ft. Pierre on Tuesday.
It took the Panthers a while to shake the Warbirds. Timber Lake held a 10-point lead midway through the second quarter, but Wolsey-Wessington rallied to cut the Timber Lake lead to 28-25 at the half. The Warbirds stayed within striking distance until midway through the fourth quarter. The Panthers led 47-43 with four minutes left in the game. They scored the game’s next six points. Jackson Harrison started the run with a three, followed by a Tucker Kraft free throw and an Isaac Kraft basket in a span of 44 seconds. The Panthers sealed the deal with six straight free throws down the stretch. Isaac Kraft hit the first two, followed by Brayden Pay Pay draining four straight from the charity stripe.
On a night when Pay Pay, the Panthers’ leading scorer, would not hit a field goal after the first quarter, it was Isaac Kraft who took over the second half of the game.
Kraft scored 15 points in the second half, including eight in the fourth quarter. Tucker Kraft scored a game-high 18 points, including 11 in the first half. Trey Bollinger scored seven points, while Harrison and Pay Pay scored six each.
Mark Hamilton led Wolsey-Wessington with 16 points. Lynden Williams scored 12 and Brevan Hooks scored nine.
The 18-2 Panthers will be the number two seed at the Class B Boys State Basketball Tournament in Aberdeen March 14 through 16.
