TyRel Thompson earns first team all-conference


Lady Tiger senior TyRel Thompson has been named first team on the All-Big Dakota Conference Basketball Team after leading the Lady Tigers to a 10-win season.
“A well-deserved award for TyRel,” said Lady Tiger coach Stephen Hettick. “She put a lot of work into the last four years and this is a great honor for her to help cap her career.”
Even though she missed two Big Dakota Conference games (Miller and Crow Creek), Thompson scored 65 points, including eight three-pointers, in conference play.
She had four double-digit scoring games. Thompson scored 16 points and had seven rebounds in the win over McLaughlin. She scored 15 points, grabbed six boards and picked off three steals against Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, had a 12-point, seven-rebound, three-assist game in the win over Stanley County and she had 10 points and three assists against Todd County.
Area teams McLaughlin and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte had players earn postseason honors as well. Devon Archambault of McLaughlin and Markee Shaving of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte were named all-conference, while Mia Paris and Daci Lends His Horse of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte were named honorable mention.
Undefeated, defending state champion, and ranked first in state, Winne,r won the BDC season title.
