The trial of Walworth County Auditor Rebecca Krein has been delayed by a move made by her attorney.
Krein is on trial for not providing public information required by state law at the commission meetings. She is being prosecuted by Walworth County State’s Attorney Jamie Hare.
Krein’s attorney told the court at this morning’s hearing that he believes it is a conflict of interest for Hare in his position as state’s attorney, to be the prosecutor on this case.
He requested that Hare be removed as prosecutor and another attorney be named to replace him. He also served Hare with a subpoena to appear as a witness in the case.
The trial will be rescheduled when a new prosecutor is named.
