Young cross country team hosts Friday meet

By Jay Davis

Second-year coach Stephen Hettick will have as young a team as any Tiger team fielded in a long time when Mobridge-Pollock hosts its annual cross country meet at Oahe Hills Golf Course on Friday.
“We’re really young,” said Hettick. “We have a lot to find out about our runners over the first couple of meets.”
With two juniors and two freshmen leading the way, the Lady Tigers have the numbers and the experience among the Mobridge-Pollock runners. Juniors Ashton Wiederholt and Mary Martin lead the Lady Tigers. They will run with freshmen ReAnne Kohlus and Allie Sauer, eighth-grader Danielle Beadle and seventh-graders Emma Fulkerson and Dusty Minor.
The boys are just three deep and middle school young in eighth-graders Miles Goldade and Aaron and Justin Grant.
Racing starts at 10 a.m. Herreid-Selby, McLaughlin, Dupree, Faith, Aberdeen Roncalli, Ipswich, Potter County, Stanley County and Lemmon are all expected to compete against Mobridge-Pollock. Others schools may enter the meet before Friday.
Tori Moore of Ipswich and Hoss Rave of Dupree are the defending champions.
