Ninth annual Denny Palmer Memorial tourney is Saturday

The vast reservoir that is Lake Oahe will be full of competition on Saturday for the ninth annual Denny Palmer Memorial Fishing Tournament. “The Tourism Committee is excited and honored to once again honor the memory of Denny,” said co-chair Jesse Konold. With the weather finally warming the Mobridge Aquatics Center opened for business last week. On Friday, May 31, area children enjoyed the cool water as temperatures rose into the 80s.

Memorial Day ceremony

Wet and cool conditions didn’t deter area residents from joining American Legion members at the Mobridge Cemetery, Monday, May 27, to start the Memorial Day Services. After the laying of the wreath and the 21-gun salute, the services moved to Greenwood Cemetery for further ceremonies.

Fire, smoke cause heavy damage to home

Mobridge and Glenham Volunteer firefighters worked to contain the fire at a Fourth Street West location after it spread from the garage to the home. The garage and the contents were completely destroyed and the home was extensively damaged.

Weisbeck wins region title

Callie Weisbeck shot 82 to win the Girls Region 3A Golf Tournament at Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre on Tuesday. Weisbeck took the lead with an opening nine 37.
